German publication BILD shocked the world yesterday, as they announced that Thomas Tuchel had been sacked by PSG despite leading the club to a 4–0 win just a few days back. Fabrizio Romano, renowned Sky Sports journalist and transfer guru confirmed the news, and now all that is left is an offical statement from PSG regarding the matter. Now, let’s look at 5 replacements for the German, and 4 possible team he could manage in the future.

5th potential replacement: Rafael Benitez

This one is the least likely to happen, and yet I find the idea of Rafael Benitez managing PSG exciting. The Spaniard managed to make Newcastle an attacking force to reckon with despite having the likes of Matt Richie and Ayoze Perez as his star players, so imagine what would happen if he had Neymar and Mbappe playing for him. Sadly, I doubt he will be willing to part with his high-paying job in China, so it is unlikely the Parisians will unveil him as their new boss.

4th: Julian Nagelsmann

PSG may have defeated his Leipzig team, but he certainly did not make it easy for them to do so. Nagelsmann may only be 33, but his tactical know-how is mind-blowing. Ralf Ragnick may have set the foundation for Leipzig to become such a fine club, but Nagelsmann has taken them to the next level with his tactics and attacking style of football. He would do wonders with PSG if given a chance, but the only issue I can see is the fact that PSG would have to pay RB Leipzig a hefty sum to acquire his services, which may not be the smartest thing to do, since there are not one, nor two but three quality managers who are available for free currently.

3rd: Maurizio Sarri

One of two Italians on the list, Sarri was cruelly sacked by the Juventus board despite winning Serie A. Sarri left Chelsea at the start of the 19/20 season to manage the Bianconeri, but only lasted one season due to dropping out of the CL. Sarri is more than a decent manager, and while he does not have the most entertaining tactics and style of play, his methods do work well, which is one reason why PSG should consider hiring him. If he were to move to PSG, he could possibly attract Jorginho to move there too, which would be an amazing signing for the Parisians.

2nd: Massimiliano Allegri

The Italian was a great manager at his time at Juventus, winning the Serie A every year he was there. The only reason he’s second, is because of his tactics. Allegri is a tactically intelligent manager, but he isn’t a tactically flexible manager. This was evident in his last few months at Juve, and this could spell bad news for PSG if he was unable to tailor his tactics according to each and every team they were to play against.

1st: Mauricio Pochettino

The Argentine’s last two months at Spurs may have been horrific, but don’t let that blot his achievements there since he first joined in 2014. He joined the Spurs after doing exceptionally well at Southapton, and completely changed the club from a top 6 challenger to a top 4/ title challenging club. His tactics were on point for the majority of his 5 years, and was constantly exceeding expectations despite having a ridiculously small amount of money to spend on improving his squad. He may not have won a trophy, but that could change if he helps PSG win Ligue 1. Multiple reports have stated he is being lined up as the replacement of PSG after they decided that he was the best man for the job, and hopefully he is hired before their next match.

So that’s all for the first section. Pochettino is the favourite to replace Tuchel, but you never know what could happen.

4th: Arsenal

Tuchel becoming Arsenal manager is quite likely if Arteta continues to lead the gunners to certain doom, but I am not sure if he would even be interested in managing such a mess of a team. No offence Arsenal, but I think Tuchel would prefer chilling at home, unemployed rather than try to save Arsenal from being relegated

3rd: Manchester United

This one is the least likely, but potentially the best job he could get. Manchester United have been doing well for the past 5 weeks, but that could change. OGS is a decent manager, but his tactical prowess is no where close to that of Tuchel. If Man United fail to win a trophy soon or fail to qualify for the Champions League, there is a small chance we could see Tuchel leading the United players from the dugout in the near future.

2nd: Inter Milan

The Italians have done well in the league, but were a trainwreck in European football as they crashed out of the Champions League by finishing last in the group stage. Antonio Conte’s only chance of keeping his job is if he wins the Serie A trophy, but now it’ll be harder for them to do so. AC Milan remain the only team unbeaten in Europe, Juventus are slowly catching up after a slow start to the season, and the likes of Atalanta and Napoli are gaining points quickly too. Despite all these challenges, I doubt the Inter management will be gracious enough to give Conte yet another season to prove himself. If Conte is sacked by June, just expect Tuchel to be the frontrunner to take over at Inter Milan.

1st: BVB

What a reunion this would be. BVB just recently sacked Lucien favre after some absymal performances, and who better to replace him than the former Dortmund manager Tuchel. Tuchel inherited a decent BVB team from Jurgen Klopp when he was managing them, and was a pretty decent manager too. Now, with Dortmund having improved drastically after sigining Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho, it would be scary to think what he could do with their squad. I also believe he could possibly win the Bundesliga if given time, which would be nice to see.

So that’s all for this article. I feel Mauricio Pochettino will soon be managing his former club PSG, and Tuchel will be managing his former club BVB! I Hope this article was a meaningful read, and I hope to write again soon! Till next time, adios!
