Premier League prediction 24/25
Welcome back to my blog, and today I will be trying my best to determine the course of the 24/25 season, alongside some wonderful guest authors. This year,I am joined by a wonderful panel consisting of RJ, Karthik Baskar, Rohan, Corey and Iain for this article. Do note as it is quite a busy period for all involved, unfortunately this year most haven’t written down their explanations for their predictions. With that, let’s dive straight into it!
Who will win the league?
Aakash: Arsenal. I think this is finally the season Arsenal make history and win the Premier League 21 years after they last lifted that coveted trophy. While Arsenal fans are absolutely despicable and deserve no such glory, the Arsenal Squad and Arteta have performed exceptionally over the last 2 years and surely this year they don’t bottle it. Surely.
Karthik: Arsenal
Iain: Manchester City, because they have just been winning everything and with Pep remaining coach till at least next year, I don’t think any team or coach can match City and Pep’s level respectively.
RJ:Manchester city
Rohan: Manchester City
Corey: Manchester City
The rest of the top seven, in order
Aakash: Manchester City, Manchester United,Newcastle United, Liverpool Spurs and West Ham
I think Manchester City finish second for the first time since 19/20, followed by a reinvigorated and fresh United side, a surprise comeback by the Magpies and Liverpool, who will still qualify for the UCL through a 5th CL spot. Tottenham will slip down even further into 6th, while the Hammers will be back in the Conference League with an impressive 7th. Villa and Chelsea will unfortunately miss out, though both could easily finish 6th and 7th themselves.
Karthik: Manchester City, Newcastle United, Liverpool, Manchester United, West Ham and Spurs
Iain: Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Aston Villa , Newcastle United, Spurs
RJ: Arsenal,Manchester United, Spurs,Chelsea,Newcastle,Liverpool
Rohan: Arsenal, Manchester united, Aston Villa, Spurs, Chelsea , Liverpool
Corey: Arsenal , Liverpool , Chelsea , Spurs , Manchester United , Aston Villa
Three picks for relegation
Aakash: Brentford, Ipswich Town and Leicester City.
This year it has been a bit harder to pick who goes down, and while many feel the promoted 3 are all going back down without a fuss, I feel this year’s relegation battle is really going to be quite a close one. The difference between 16th and 20th won’t be in double digits, making it the closest battle in years. However, I think the three to go down will be Brentford, Ipswich Town and Leicester City. I think if Toney leaves, Brentford might be in big trouble and even if he doesn’t I highly doubt he will seamlessly integrate back into the side, leading to some tumultuous form at the start of the season. Ipswich Town are a massive club who deserve to stay up, but I just can’t see that happening with the mediocre squad they possess. I would love to see them prove me wrong though. Finally, I think Steve Cooper and Leicester City will be a marriage made in hell. Nothing will go right, the executives will sack him before December, and settle on someone like Frank Lampard who will seal their relegation with some even more terrible football.
Karthik: Brentford, Ipswich, Nottingham Forest
Iain: Ipswich Town, Southampton and Nottingham Forest. I trust the Foxes to stay up as they are absolute legends and deserve to remain in the PL. Nottingham Forest have just been barely staying past few seasons and should finally go down.
RJ: Ipswich, Southampton, Nottingham Forest
Rohan: Southampton , Forest, Brentford
Corey: Southampton , Ipswich town , Nottingham Forest
Surprise club of the season
Aakash: Southampton are going to finish above fifteenth. A lot of the writers here (and in the world) feel Southampton are going straight back down, but I think otherwise. Russell Martin is a top coach (so far) and their squad is quietly the best of the 3 freshly promoted sides. Also, Southampton just feel like a Premier League club. Southampton have provided iconic moments in the Premier league, from losing 9–0 TWICE to that infamous 1–0 win against Liverpool under Ralph Hassenhuttl. I certainly missed the Saints in the Prem last season, and hopefully they live up to my expectations.
Karthik: Saints to finish comfortable mid table
Iain: West Ham, I think they have some really good players (is Paqueta still there? If he is, is he even allowed to play?). All they need is some good management and mentality from manager Julen Lopetegui.
RJ: Leicester to finish 9th
Rohan: Crystal Palace to finish top 10
Corey: Leicester City
Golden Boot winner
Aakash: Haaland. The Norwegian is the boring and clearest pick of the list but there isn’t anyone else who is on his level. He had an off-season last year and still won it by a decent margin, so what chance does anyone have to win it this year?
Karthik: Isak
Iain: Haaland, I don’t think it’s even a question at this point
RJ: Hojlund. Pleaseeeee.
Rohan: Nkunku/Haaland
Corey: Erling Haaland
Most Assists
Aakash: Bruno Fernandes, I think with Joshua Zirkzee and an in-form Hojlund up top, there should be goals galore at Manchester United this season and Bruno will be behind the scenes supplying the assists for them.
Karthik: KdB
Iain: KdB
RJ: Cole Palmer
Rohan: Szoboszlai/Palmer
Corey: Mo Salah
Best new signing (can include potential future signings)
Aakash: Crysencio Summerville
The Leeds winger has been an enigma during his time at Elland Road, and for the relatively cheap price of 22 million pounds, I think he will be absolutely electric on the left for West Ham.
Karthik: Max Kilman
Iain: Ian Maatsen or Onana (the good one). I think Unai Emery and Villa have been absolutely cooking in the transfer window, and one of these two transfers will be the best for the window.
RJ: Leny Yoro(not a lot of choices right now)
Rohan: Marc Guiu
Corey: Emile Smith Rowe
Flop of the season
Aakash: Kiernan Drewsbury-Hall
Listen, I like the former Leicester midfielder. I would happily have him as a squad player at Old Trafford, but this transfer just feels like it will flop. Fellow English midfielder Danny Drinkwater made the same move just years ago, and that transfer failed spectacularly. I can’t help but feel this is just going to be a repeat of history
Karthik: Joshua Zirkzee
Iain: Marc Guiu, as i doubt he has enough experience for his age, and he might be too hyped as he is from La Masia, so he will fail to meet expectations set by the Chelsea faithful.
RJ: James Maddison
Rohan:Joshua Zirkzee
Corey: Mason Mount
Biggest bargain
Aakash: Daichi Kamada
Is picking a free transfer a bit boring? Absolutely, but Kamada is a Champions League level midfielder playing for Crystal Palace, the quintessential mid-table club. Palace might just break into the top 10 with this bargain of a transfer.
Karthik: Ben Johnson to Ipswich
Iain: Ricardo Calafiori to Arsenal, he’s got the aura and defensive capability to break into the Gunners’ back 4 and make a difference.
RJ: De Ligt to Manchester United (if it happens)
Rohan: Also Marc Guiu to Chelsea for a mere 6 million
Corey: Too early to decide
PFA player of the year
Aakash: Martin Odegaard
This might be a bit of a surprise, as I’m sure many of you would favour Saka winning this accolade ahead of Odegaard. However, CAMs have had something of a renaissance in the PL. during the last 3 years, with Foden, Bruno Fernandes and KDB all having world class seasons. That’s why I am more than happy to bet on Odegaard to join this prestigious list with a PFA player of the year worthy and even Ballon D’or worthy season.
Karthik: Alexander Isak
Iain: Foden or Rodri, both are in their prime and have performed exceptionally under Pep Guardiola
RJ: Cole Palmer
Rohan: Kobbie Mainoo
Corey: Foden
Best ‘Outside the top 6’ player
(note: Outside the top 6 refers to the traditional top 6, not last year’s top 6)
Aakash: Amadou Onana
The Belgian midfielder has been phenomenal for Everton in the last two seasons, and this season I expect him to do wonder for Unai Emery’s side in the Champions League and Premier League. He will be a steely presence in the midfield and help steer them to a top 6 finish despite the additional pressure of European football.
Karthik: Jarrod Bowen
Iain: Eberechi Eze, as he is a clutch player for Palace.
RJ: Matheus Cunha or Ivan Toney if he remains at Brentford
Rohan: Eberechi Eze
Corey: Ollie Watkins
The first manager to get the sack
Aakash: Steve Cooper
Steve Cooper made the polarising switch to Leicester City after getting sacked at rivals Nottingham Forest, and I have a sneaky feeling he might face some good old karma and be booted out of King Power stadium before Christmas.
Karthik:
Iain: Enzo Maresca
RJ: Gary O’Neil
Rohan: Enzo Maresca
Corey: Nuno Esposito Santos
Manager of the Season
Aakash: Mikel Arteta
This is quite an easy decision. Arteta will be the first manager other than Klopp or Pep to win the Prem since 2017, and will easily be manager of the season.
Karthik: Julen Lopetegui
Iain: If not Pep, I’m hoping Arne Slot does well and brings something new and exciting to the Premier League.
RJ: Pep
Rohan: Arne Slot
Corey: Pep
Phew! That’s all for this article. I hope you enjoyed reading this year’s version of the combined PL predictions. Do let me know if you guys want a champions league version of this, and till next time, adios!
