10. Miralem Pjanic- Barcelona

The Bosnian made the switch to the Blaugrana early on in the summer, and has already become a regular in Ronald Koeman’s team. With amazing passing abilities, perhaps Pjanic is truly the creative influence Barca have been crying out for.

9.Hakim Ziyech — Chelsea

The Moroccan winger has been experiencing a phenomanal start to life in Stamford Bridge, after joining Chelsea for around 37.5 million pounds this summer. He started the season with a goal on his Champions League debut, Premier League debut, AND bagged a couple of assists too. Pretty impressive. However, he has not played enough for the Blues for me to rank him higher

8.Timothy Castagne-Leicester

The former Atalanta full-back has had an amazing start to his Leicester career, with a couple of goals and assists to his name, as well as being solid defensively. While he was brought in as Ben Chilwell’s replacement at left-back, he has slotted in at right-back comfortably due to the absence of Ricardo Peirera with James Justin filling in at left back.

7. Eberechi Eze- Crystal Palace

Any doubts that the former QPR winger would not be able to cope with the pressure of playing in the PL have been put to rest after a couple of stellar performances for the Eagles. Hopefully his form will continue throughout the season.

6.Alphonse Areola- Fulham (loan)

The French ‘keeper has always been a pretty decent player, but never seemed to be able to convince Thomas Tuchel he deserved the number 1 spot at PSG. How Fulham convinced him to move will always remain a mystery to me, but the move has worked out for both Fulham and Areola himself. He has made a couple of saves, and looks comfortable in the PL. He also looks like he is a better ’keeper than Rodak.

5.Thiago Alacantra- Liverpool

As a Man United fan, i feel really embarrassed that we missed out of this star player TWICE in the decade. First, the Red Devils decided to sign MAROUNE FELLAINI instead of him, and then missed out on him this year due to his age and wage demands. However, for Liverpool fans, they‘ve got a transfer to celebrate as in the games he has played in so far, he has performed outstandingly, and even broke a record as well!

4.Ben Chilwell- Chelsea

The Englishman may have been injured at the start of the season, but has produced a couple of world class performances. He may have been a bit costly for the Blues, but it looks like he will be their first choice left back for years to come.

3.Emiliano Martinez- Aston Villa

The Argentinian has been outstanding for the Villans so far, not only saving more than a couple of shots but bringing in some leadership at the back as well. Its surprising that he was a back-up or a loanee for so long and Villa fans would be happy to have signed such a great ‘keeper.

2.Ollie Watkins- Aston VIlla

How could I leave this guy out? He has been clinical for Aston Villa, and has brought much needed goals to the team when required. He’s been so good, he has scored 5 goals against the likes of Liverpool AND Arsenal. The way things are going for Villa, it not only seems like they will avoid relegation, but finish in the top ten too.

  1. James Rodriguez-Everton

The Columbian may have only moved to the Toffees this July, but he’s already been claimed to be one of the best CAMs in the PL , and those saying so are not wrong. Rodriguez’s career was on a downward slope for the past 2 years, but after his move to Everton, he has rediscovered his prime form. He seems to be a dangerous attacker to deal with for defenders, and it will be exciting to see if he remains so for the rest of his time in England.

So there you have it. I think James Rodriguez has been the best summer signing of this year’s transfer window, but things could change as the season goes on. Do let me know if you have a different opinion on which summer addition has been the best so far. Hope this article was a meaningful and informative read, and i would love to hear feedback on how to improve!
